Many Eufy robovac owners complain because of a loud noise, sometimes a rattling sound coming from their robot while cleaning. But why is a Eufy robovac so loud?

A Eufy robovac is making a loud noise when cleaning because the rolling brush bearings are full of hair, or the side brush motors are completely worn down (stripped of their gears). The solution is to remove the hair from the brush bearings or replace the side brush motors.

If you are in a pinch, we also have a quick solution to fix a loud and noisy Eufy robovac, which you can find below. By the end of this post, your Eufy robovac will not produce a loud noise anymore.

Quick Solution to a Noisy Eufy RoboVac

Assuming the loud noise is coming from the rolling brush, take it out and wrap one layer of masking tape around the square alignment ‘pin’ on the one end of the rolling brush. This simple fix will stop the loud rattling sound coming from a Eufy robovac.

The thin layer of tape either muffles or absorbs the rattling noise from the end of the rolling brush. It is a cheap fix and works perfectly. While it won’t last long, it is a quick way to isolate the problem.

But, if you are looking for a permanent solution, I would recommend removing the rolling brush bearings and cleaning them from hair. You can navigate to that part of the tutorial on the bottom of this article

Why is a Eufy RoboVac so loud?

Sometimes, a Eufy robovac is making a loud noise.

Keep in mind that the noise levels in higher suction levels (like in Max Suction) are louder than in Standard Suction. Please cycle through the suction levels and adjust to Standard Suction to make sure.

If your Eufy is still very loud, try these troubleshooting steps for rattling noise issues:

1. The suction inlet is clogged

The first reason why a Eufy robovac is so loud is because the suction inlet is clogged.

Remove the dust collector, clean the suction inlet, and check to make sure the filters are properly aligned.

With the dust collector removed from the unit, hold the robovac upright with the bumper facing up, the suction "hole" facing downwards. Shake out any debris that might be stuck in the suction fans inside the machine. Then, reassemble the dust collector properly.

2. The rolling brush and brush guard are not installed properly

Another common reason why a Eufy robovac is so noisy is because the rolling brush and its brush guard are not properly installed or not completely cleaned.

It can also be that the rubber part of the brush guard and the 2 ends of the rolling brush are worn out.

To inspect, remove the brush guard and the rolling brush from the robot.

Then, run the vacuum without the 2 parts (rolling brush and brush guard) to see whether the noise persists when running without the parts.

If the Eufy robovac runs quietly without the 2 parts (rolling brush and brush guard), please double-check whether the rolling brush and brush guard are properly installed, the rolling brush is completely cleaned, and the rubber part of the brush guard and the 2 ends of the rolling brush are not worn out.

Please send Eufy customer service pictures of the 2 rolling brush ends, the white connector on the vacuum (where the rolling brush connects to the vacuum), and the brush guard, so they can identify the cause for you.

If the noise persists, then it's not because of the rolling brush or the brush guard. However, the next thing you need to do is to inspect the rolling brush bearings, which may be full of hair.

3. The rolling brush bearings are full of hair

The most common reason why your Eufy robovac is noisy and loud is because the rolling brush bearings are full of hair. You will be surprised by the amount of hair inside the rolling brush bearings.

After further investigation, I have found out that the real problem is that debris, hair, and a collection of dust somehow make their way into the bearing housing on the main rolling brush.

This then causes the bearing to stop rotating, and then begins to wear out the brush guard that traps the bearing housing in place. This results in the main brush becoming loose, and accelerating the wear process.

To fix the noisy brush, take the cap off both ends of the rolling brush with pliers and clean out the insane amount of hair wrapped inside. It’s okay to pry each bearing out from the rolling brush with a little force.

Remember, it is very important to keep your Eufy robovac clean, including periodically cleaning the rolling brush bearings. And perhaps, it’s a good idea to lubricate them with dry lube to keep them running smoothly and quietly.

B'laster 16-TDL Advanced Dry Lube...
  • Provides superior, long-lasting lubrication for every household lubricant need
  • Use on locks and catches, hinges, cables, window tracks and glass, rope, door tracks and conveyor belts
  • It's also safe for use on plastics

If the rolling brush had simply worn down, and the bristles were “flared”, then it’s time to replace it. Eufy recommends replacing the rolling brush every 6 to 12 months, depending on cleaning frequency.

In my opinion, this is the ultimate fix. There is no need for duct tape. For those of you living with pets, you will be amazed by how much hair can hide under the bearing caps which keep the rolling brush from turning smoothly on bare floors, causing so much noise.

4. The side brush motors have stripped their gears

Last but not least, check whether there is a clicking sound if you spin the side brushes with your hands.

If there is a clicking sound when you rotate the side brushes manually (with the side brushes on). It indicates that the noise is from the side brush motor. Replacing the side brush motor could fix the issue.

Friction between old parts can also cause robot vacuums to squeak.

I personally had the same problem with my Eufy 15C. It ran perfectly fine and quiet for two years, then all of a sudden it became very noisy. I noticed that the noise seemed to be coming from one of the side brushes.

After more inspection, I noticed that one of the side brushes spin freely while another had some smooth resistance through the gearing. It turns out that one of the side brush motors was stripped of its gears.

As I was shopping for a new side brush motor, I found out that the unit sold on Eufy’s website is “sold out”, which tells me that this is a common problem.

Thankfully, after finding the parts on Amazon, my Eufy robovac is back to its normal quiet operation. It’s a fairly simple repair and you can read how to replace Eufy side brush motors right here. I hope that this article will be able to help someone encountering the same problem.
