As expensive as the Dyson brand is, it arguably offers some of the best vacuum cleaners in the world. Let’s compare it with an affordable brand: Wyze. In this post, we compare the Wyze handheld vacuum vs. Dyson.

Wyze Handheld Vacuum vs. Dyson Comparison

For this review, I will compare the Wyze handheld vacuum vs. the Dyson handheld vacuum. I will compare the two using four criterias: suction power, battery life, portability, and value for price.

1. Dyson has stronger suction power

It’s hard to beat Dyson in terms of raw suction power.

Powered by the Dyson digital motor that spins up to three times faster than conventional electric motor, the Dyson handheld vacuum has the highest suction of any other handheld vacuums on the market.

Additionally, it is also equipped with the Root Cyclone technology. It is a patented technology that doesn’t lose suction power as you vacuum. You can definitely feel the consistency when you're using it.

According to Dyson, conventional vacuum cleaners rely on bags to trap dust and dirt. However, when you start to use some bagged machines, dust can clog the tiny holes in the bag.

When it clogs, suction drops, leaving dust and dirt behind in your home.

Dyson's patented Root Cyclone technology doesn't rely on a bag. Instead, it spins the air so fast that centrifugal forces up to 100,000 times the force of gravity fling dust and dirt out of the air and straight into the clear bin. As a result, the Dyson handheld vacuum does not lose suction.

That’s great, but what does this all mean in real life?

This means that the Dyson handheld is able to deliver the same suction power consistently. Compared to the Wyze handheld vacuum, you’ll be able to finish the same job in significantly less time.

The Wyze handheld vacuum is great, thanks to its 16.8k Pa suction power, but it’s nowhere near as powerful as the Dyson handheld. While it’s capable of sucking dust and debris, Dyson can simply do it better.

If you’re dealing with bigger debris (like rice or cereal) and want to clean the mess faster, then you’d prefer the Dyson. The Wyze handheld vacuum is good, but the Dyson DC34 can clean things up faster.

2. Wyze handheld vacuum has slightly better battery life

As far as battery life goes, the Wyze handheld vacuum performs better than the Dyson. The  delivers 15 minutes of powerful, constant suction, or 6 minutes on MAX power for tougher cleans.

On the other hand, the Wyze handheld vacuum runs about 30 minutes in Default Mode (which is more than enough time to clean a large area of your house) and about 10 minutes in Max Power Mode.

While the battery life will vary in the real world, it’s clear that the Wyze handheld vacuum has almost twice the battery life of the Dyson handheld vacuum (30 minutes compared to 15 minutes).

Even if you use the Wyze handheld vacuum on the Max Power Mode for less than 10 minutes, it gives you more than enough time for the small vacuuming jobs this product is clearly intended for.

One small feature I really enjoy during my review of the Wyze handheld vacuum is the three battery indicator lights which allows me to quickly check the estimated remaining battery life at a glance.

The Dyson, on the other hand, does not have any sort of battery indicator. The only way you’d know that the machine needs charging is when it turns off. Not a dealbreaker but I’d prefer the Wyze handheld.

3. Wyze handheld vacuum is more portable

Most of you would agree with me that the reason for buying a handheld vacuum cleaner is for convenience. If I need to clean up a small mess, I would go for something quick instead of whipping out my bulky vacuum.

This is why I adore the Wyze handheld vacuum. It weighs a mere 1.23 pounds (19.8 ounces) and is no bigger than a wine bottle. On the other hand, the Dyson is somewhat bulky and weighs 2.9 pounds.

Sure, a vacuum that weighs less than 3 pounds is okay, but if I were to choose, I would go for something as light as the Wyze handheld vacuum any day. It’s so light, even my kids have no trouble using it.

Thanks to its supremely light weight, I usually place my Wyze handheld vacuum in the car. It fits the bottle compartment seamlessly and I can quickly use it if there is a small mess inside the car.

On the contrary, I would not think of placing my Dyson in my car. It’s too bulky and has too many attaching parts that may become damaged during a bumpy car ride. I’d go for the Wyze handheld vacuum.

One last thing I would like to mention is how convenient the Wyze handheld vacuum is due to its USB-C charging. It definitely makes life a lot easier because I can charge the machine in many places.

4. Wyze offers better value for the price

Listen carefully: the Wyze handheld vacuum costs less than while the Dyson handheld vacuum costs more. You would agree that Wyze offers better value for its price.

It would make sense if the Dyson handheld vacuum performs significantly better over the Wyze handheld vacuum but this is not the case. I just don’t think the hefty price of the Dyson is justified.

If you’re looking for a convenient handheld vacuum, I would recommend the Wyze handheld over a Dyson. You won’t break the bank. After all, a handheld vacuum is designed for quick clean-ups not lengthy ones.

And there you have it, the Wyze handheld vacuum vs. Dyson handheld vacuum. While the Dyson delivers superior suction power, its battery life and portability is inferior to the Wyze handheld vacuum.

Additionally, the super expensive price of the Dyson does not justify the value that it brings. For one Dyson handheld vacuum, you can buy 6 Wyze handheld vacuums with a few bucks to spare.
