This is the review of the Wyze handheld vacuum. Yes, it’s the same Wyze that sells indoor and outdoor security cameras, doorbells, and smart home devices. In no way shape or form is this product a smart device. It is basically a handheld vacuum cleaner that does not connect to an app.
Wyze Handheld Vacuum Review
This unit has two suction power levels and a variety of attachments (including a flexible extension hose, a crevice tool, an upholstery tool and a brush). It also comes with a USB-C charging cable and wall adapter.
No assembly is needed out of the box, and removing its dust cup or replacing the filters are simple processes. Sadly, you won't be able to use the extension hose, crevice tool, or soft bristle brush if you lose the included attachment adapter, so please don’t lose any of the attachments!
1. Amazing suction power for such a small device
Immediately after I opened the box, I attached the upholstery tool and turned on the Wyze handheld vacuum. After my wife left some biscuit crumbs on the sofa, I did a few quick passes to pick up the crumbs.
Much to my surprise, A saw a substantial amount of dog fur (we have pets in the house) in addition to the biscuit crumbs. I didn’t even see the dog fur but the Wyze handheld vacuum picked it up anyway.
That is a testament to the amazing suction power for such a small device. Boasting 16,800 Pa of suction power, Wyze claims that this handheld vacuum can absorb everything from fine dust mites to bread crumbs. In short, you’re wielding the power of a tornado in the palm of your hands.
Compared to other handheld vacuums, the Wyze handheld vacuum is able to pick up bulkier debris like rice and cereal with ease. It also has an onboard HEPA filter, helping to keep harmful allergens at bay.
Although this small device is powerful, I found that the suction power can drop slightly when the filter is clogged so I recommend washing it every other week or so depending on your use.
2. Battery life is better than most handheld vacuums
Based on my testing, the Wyze handheld vacuum is able to run for about 29 minutes in Default Mode. However, the battery life drops significantly when used on Max Power Mode (about 9 minutes).
Obviously, the battery life of the Wyze cordless vacuum will vary in the real world. It does feature a trio of battery indicator lights, allowing you to check the estimated remaining charge at a glance.
Even if you use it on the Max Power Mode for less than 10 minutes, I suspect it's enough for the small vacuuming jobs this product is clearly intended for. The Wyze handheld vacuum needs 3 hours to fully charge.
3. Easy to use and simple to maintain
This vacuum isn't too hard to maintain. You can easily empty the dust cup by pressing the quick-release button near the bottom part of the device. Additionally, you can completely remove it by rotating it against the vacuum body. It needs frequent emptying, and you can clean it out with water if needed.
The lint screen and HEPA filter are located inside the dust cup. You can twist the assembly out of its housing, then pull out the HEPA filter from inside the pre-filter lint screen. Both filters should be cleaned with water frequently (be sure to air dry them completely) and should be replaced every two to three months.
4. Lightweight, compact, and portable
I'll get my only complaint about this handheld vacuum out of the way. You must empty the canister immediately after use, especially if you're buying this vacuum to clean up any messes that might include small amounts of moisture, like food. The canister is the perfect environment to promote fast mold growth.
Weighing less than 20 oz, the Wyze handheld vacuum is the epitome of portability. It’s perfect for cleaning messes in small spaces, especially in your car. The dust collection bin is small (0.2 L capacity), but if you need to suck up a bigger mess, you need a bigger vacuum cleaner anyway.
Thanks to its small size, the Wyze handheld vacuum is fairly easy to store. It isn't especially big and comes with a draw-string carrying pouch, but the bag isn't big enough to hold the vacuum and all of the included accessories at once. I hope Wyze designs a pouch big enough for everything.
I personally use the Wyze handheld vacuum in the car the most. The fact that it is USB-C rechargeable is great for use in a car. It is small enough to hide somewhere in your car and I love it.
Although the Wyze handheld vacuum is cordless, its range is limited only by the remaining battery life and the room left in its considerably small dust canister. The included hose is also very short, which can make it tricky to clean hard-to-reach areas. Other than that, this product is great.
To sum it up, the Wyze handheld vacuum is top notch for size and suction. It's wonderful for cleaning up kid messes, small spills, and cars. It actually fits perfectly in the door pocket of our Kia Carnival, in case anyone else needs an emergency vacuum of car seats after a quick travel snack.
Final Verdict
And there you have it, the Wyze handheld vacuum review. Overall, this product is supremely compact (about the size of a wine bottle) but has surprisingly powerful suction. It’s able to pick up larger debris like rice and cereal, even pet hair. The dust canister is tiny but has enough room for a full-floor sweep of dog hair.
In my opinion, the Wyze handheld vacuum is perfect for the car. The suction is GREAT (it sucked a whole napkin that I didn't intend to drag in), the bin size is very decent for how small the thing is, and the unit is compact enough that you can use it to get to most of an average vehicle while you're sitting in traffic.
