Below, you can learn how to clean an Ecovacs Deebot from top to bottom, including its dustbin, filter, brushes, wheels, and sensors. By the end of this post, your beloved Deebot should be good as new.

How to Clean Ecovacs Deebot

In order to maximize your Ecovacs Deebot’s lifespan and ensure its best possible performance, please follow these steps to clean your robot vacuum.

1. How to clean Deebot dustbin and filter

After every use, please clean the dustbin.

To clean the dustbin, pull the dustbin out of the robot and empty the dustbin. Remove the high efficiency filter then rinse the dustbin and sponge filter under running water.

To clean the Deebot high efficiency filter, remove it from the dustbin and tap it gently on top of a trash container to remove debris. Be sure to clean the Deebot filter once per week.

Do not wash the high efficiency filter with water. Make sure the filter dries naturally before use. Using a damp filter may cause the Deebot to emit an abnormal sound during cleaning and the robot may break down.

While the original filter is air drying, you can use the identical spare filter provided.

After both the dustbin and sponge filter have been air dried, reinstall everything, including the high efficiency filter back into the dustbin, then place everything back into the robot.

How often should I change my Deebot filter?

Ecovacs recommends replacing your Deebot filter every 1 to 3 months, depending on your cleaning frequency. You can buy authentic Ecovacs parts and accessories right here.

2. How to clean Deebot brush

Along with the side brushes, every Deebot has two interchangeable brush options: the main brush and the tangle-free intake. Please learn how to clean each brush type the right way.

Cleaning the interchangeable main brush

If you use the interchangeable main brush option, please clean it once per week.

To clean the Deebot brush, remove the main brush cover then remove the main brush. Use a dry, mop cloth to clean the brush slot by wiping it clean. Use the multifunctional tool to remove any hair or other debris from the main brush. Clean the main brush cover before reinstalling.

Cleaning the interchangeable tangle-free intake

If you use the interchangeable tangle-free intake option, please clean it once per week.

To clean the interchangeable tangle-free intake, use a dry mop cloth to clean the brush slot and the tangle-free intake by wiping them clean before reinstalling everything.

Cleaning the side brushes

Please clean the side brushes every two weeks, otherwise they may not spin properly.

To clean the side brushes, remove them from the bottom of the robot and clean them with the multifunctional tool (included with a Deebot purchase). Use a dry mop cloth to clean the brush slots before reinstalling both side brushes.

You can also use a dry mop cloth to wipe away any remaining dust from the side brushes.

Pair the side brushes with the slots with the same color.

3. How to clean Deebot wheels

Ecovacs recommends cleaning the Deebot wheels every month. This keeps the Deebot running smoothly.

  1. To clean the wheels, wipe away the dirt from the two back wheels located on the bottom of the Deebot with a brush.
  2. Gently remove the universal wheel with a screwdriver and pull it out with a slight upward motion.
  3. Once the universal wheel is removed, use a dry mop cloth or a brush to wipe below the universal wheel’s directional pad.
  4. Lastly, clean the universal wheel, removing any hair and debris around it, and insert it into place.

Keeping the Deebot wheels free of tangled hair and debris will allow it to navigate smoothly. If the wheels are tangled with hair and debris, it may be stuck in one location and run around in circles.

4. How to clean Deebot sensors, bumpers, and charging contacts

Cleaning the sensors, bumpers, and charging contacts is super easy and all you need is a soft cloth. Here are three things to keep in mind when cleaning a Deebot’s sensors:

  1. Remove any hair or debris tangled around the Deebot’s universal wheel. Use a dry mop cloth to clean the anti-drop sensors by wiping them gently.
  2. Unplug the charging dock before cleaning the charging dock pins and charging contacts on the robot.
  3. Wipe the bumper with a dry mop cloth.

The Deebot’s sensors are its “eyes” that let it see where it’s going as it’s cleaning your floors, as well as keeping the robot from falling down stairs. If the sensors become dirty, the Deebot may start bumping into objects and missing spots. Worse, it can fall off a cliff.

On the other hand, the charging contacts must be kept clean so that the Deebot can charge properly. A weekly cleaning is suggested for the Deebot’s sensors, bumpers, and charging contacts.
