If you have done the correct Wi-Fi connection setup with your Wyze robot vacuum but it is still unable to connect to your home’s Wi-Fi network, we will help you troubleshoot the issue in this article.

Wyze Robot Vacuum Not Connecting to Wi-Fi Fix

Before setting up the Wi-Fi on the Wyze robot vacuum, turn off the cellular data on your mobile device. Some devices other than the Wyze robot vacuum may try to automatically connect to the cellular data while not connected to Wi-Fi. This can prevent a successful setup with your Wyze robot vacuum.

Next, connect your Wyze robot vacuum to the charging station by making sure the slices touch. The status lights should light up, with the robot vacuum connected to power and charged enough to turn on.

While trying to connect to Wi-Fi, the status lights should be blinking white. If the status light is pulsing slowly, is solid, or another color, then it's not in Wi-Fi configuration mode.

Still can't connect to Wi-Fi or complete the setup? In your mobile device's settings, forget the Wyze robot vacuum's WiFi network. Then, start the setup again, ensuring you have cellular data turned off and do these:

1. Ensure the Wyze app is updated to the latest version

The first step to the Wi-Fi setup troubleshooting is self-explanatory. To be able to connect your Wyze robot vacuum to your home’s Wi-Fi network, the Wyze app must be updated to the latest version.

2. Turn on Precise Location

Next, please turn on Precise Location. If using iOS 14 or later, you can turn on Precise Location by going to Setting > Privacy > Location Services > Precise Location. On Android, you can turn on High accuracy mode by going to Settings > Location > Mode > High accuracy.

Also, ensure Local Network permissions are on. Setting > Privacy > Local Network.

3. Ensure you are connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network

While the additional speed and bandwidth of a 5GHz is effective for streaming movies and downloading large files because it is super fast, a Wyze robot vacuum does not support 5GHz networks.

A 5GHz network also has a shorter range and less wall-penetrating ability than a 2.4Ghz network.

The good news is, most 5GHz routers also have a 2.4GHz band. If you want to connect your Wyze robot vacuum to your home Wi-Fi network, switch the modem to 2.4GHz only.

This will ensure that your Wyze robot vacuum is able to connect through a proper 2.4GHz channel. After your Wyze robot vacuum is connected, you can change the router back to its original 2.4G/5G dual-band setting.

4. Ensure the Wyze robot vacuum is within 10 feet of the router

Try moving your Wyze robot vacuum closer to the router. Ideally, you want the Wyze robot vacuum to be within 10 feet of the router. If this still does not work, check to see if your router is working.

You can also try placing the router in the middle of the house, as high as possible. Nine times out of ten, this should be more than enough to improve the signal strength throughout your house.

However, if your router’s Wi-Fi signal is still weak even when you get it close to your Wyze robot vacuum, try resetting the Wi-Fi router and try again. If it still fails, you may need to upgrade your router.

We recommend buying the TP-Link Wi-Fi 6 Router AX1800. Boasting a Next-Gen 1.8 Gbps Speeds, you can enjoy a smoother and more stable streaming, gaming, downloading, and more with Wi-Fi speeds up to 1.8 Gbps (1200 Mbps on 5 GHz band and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz band).

5. Change to Wi-Fi name and password to just letters and numbers

If you have special characters in the Wi-Fi network name and/or password, try changing it to just letters and numbers. It may sound simple, but many people successfully connected their Wyze robot vacuum on the first try once they changed their network and Wi-Fi passwords using only letters and numbers.

6. Change MAC filtering

Check to see if you have the MAC address binding feature on their home router Wi-Fi router disabled.

MAC filtering can also block some devices from accessing your Wi-Fi network, and could keep your Wyze robot vacuum from connecting. If your network is set up to only allow certain devices to connect, make sure you add the Wyze robot vacuum’s MAC address to the list. This can be typically found on the back of the robot.

7. If you are not sure, reboot the router and set it up again

Before you give up, it’s worth it to try rebooting the router and trying to set your Wyze robot vacuum with your home’s Wi-Fi network again. Repeat the steps in this article from the beginning (steps 1 to 6).

8. Perform a factory reset

If all else fails, you can try performing a factory reset. Basically, a factory reset sets the Wyze robot vacuum back to its factory settings. It’s like the device is brand new. Here’s how to perform the reset procedure.

9. Run a RouteThisHelps and contact a Wyze customer’s support

RouteThis Helps is a third party network diagnostic tool that Wyze uses to help them mimic their products on your network. Basically, it checks if the required ports are open as well as testing your network's upload and download speeds.

It will also send test packets to Wyze’s servers to confirm that you are able to connect to them from your location. If you have completed all of the connectivity troubleshooting steps above and are still experiencing issues connecting to your Wyze robot vacuum, please follow these steps:

  • Download the free RouteThis Helps app from the App Store or Google Play store.
  • Make sure Battery Saver mode is turned off on your phone or tablet.
  • When it prompts for a code, please type "Wyze.
  • Place the device that the RouteThis app is installed next to the device you are having issues with.
  • Confirm that your device is attached to the same 2.4GHz signal on your Wi-Fi as the robot and next to the robot's setup location.
  • Press the start button, which for most people should be labeled "I Moved It."
  • The scan will take about 4-5 minutes.
  • Once the scan is complete, your Wi-Fi speeds will show.
  • Click the button that says "Improve Network Health".
  • The 3 most impactful issues to the health of your network will be displayed, please explore this feedback to try and address your network issues.
  • If you are not already in contact with an agent, please submit with the customer key and a description of the issue you are experiencing for further assistance.

While doing this last and final troubleshooting step, you may need to contact Wyze for a walkthrough. They should be able to remedy your issue one way or another.
