Top 4 Vacuum Cleaners Under $200

The best vacuum cleaner under $200 can help you clean messes from a variety of different surfaces and pick up pet hair efficiently without you having to break the bank. Here are the top 4 choices.

For your convenience, I’ve separated each product based on the category. There is one stick vacuum, one cordless vacuum, one handheld vacuum, and a vacuum cleaner that costs less than $100.

1. Best Stick Vacuum Under $200: Bissell PowerGlide Pet Slim

If you’re looking for the best stick vacuum under $200, then it’s probably the Bissell PowerGlide Pet Slim. It’s excellent on every type of carpet and flooring I’ve come across, while being able to pick up pet hair effortlessly. The 30-feet cord is also amazing, allowing you to clean your house in one go.

Perfect for all types of surfaces

The Bissell PowerGlide Pet Slim is amazing because it works on all types of surfaces. Not only is it able to clean hardwood floors, but it’s also capable of cleaning carpets, including medium to high-pile carpets.

If you’d like to clean upholstery, stairs, and other soft surfaces where pets like to leave hair behind, the Bissell PowerGlide Pet Slim vacuum conveniently converts to a handheld vacuum.

For hard-to-reach places, it also comes with an extension wand, so you can clean high and low around your home. Sure, it’s not as lightweight as thinner vacuums, but the unique design of the Bissell PowerGlide Pet Slim allows you to maneuver it under all furniture to pick up EVERYTHING.

Picks up pet hair effortlessly

Not every vacuum cleaner can pick up pet hair effectively and efficiently, but I’m very impressed at the Bissell PowerGlide Pet Slim vacuum’s ability to clean up after my cats and dogs.

I own a German Shepherd Husky mix who sheds a ton of fur. After just ONE PASS on my home’s area rug, you can see how much fur is captured inside the dust compartment:

The perfect-sized stick vacuum.

Look at all that pet hair!

What’s more impressive is that it’s engineered with the patented Tangle-Free Brush Roll, so you don't have to worry about that annoying hair that gets wrapped around the brushes of other vacuums.

Maybe the name is a bit of a giveaway, but I think the Bissell PowerGlide Pet Slim vacuum is a really good purchase for picking up pet hair. If you’re a pet owner, this affordable vacuum is for you.

As a side note, if you’re a pet owner with plenty of cats and dogs around the house, you might want to check out the best Dyson for pet hair. They’re quite expensive, but they’re definitely worth it.

Super long cord (30 feet)

On any given day, I would usually prefer to use a cordless vacuum with a battery instead of a corded vacuum. After using this vacuum, however, I have learned to appreciate corded vacuums.

I can't tell you how many times I've had to stop just to recharge the battery of the vacuum cleaner. Sometimes I get so clumsy that I didn't get the machine quite right on the charger, so I had to wait.

A battery-powered vacuum also has a limited lifespan. Once the battery is no longer able to hold a charge, it will deliver an inconsistent suction power. A corded vacuum, on the other hand,  is always reliable.

With this Bissell PowerGlide Pet Slim vacuum, I can clean 3 rooms at the same time while the device is plugged into the same outlet because the cord is super long. In fact, it is 30 feet long!

I can do two bedrooms, a bathroom and a long hallway, and never have to move this vacuum to another electrical outlet. The cord is definitely much longer than the average vacuum cleaner and I love it.

2. Best Cordless Vacuum Under $200: Wyze Cordless Vacuum

The best cordless vacuum under $200 is, without a doubt, the Wyze cordless vacuum. Weighing in at just 2.8 pounds, it’s so light that it can reach anywhere. Despite its slim profile, however, it doesn’t skimp on power.

Surprisingly great suction power

Wyze claims that when it comes to suction power, motors matter most. In fact, the Wyze cordless vacuum is equipped with not just one motor but two motors, each with 9,500 RPMs of power.

That is why the Wyze cordless vacuum has 3 suction power levels: Turbo, Medium, and Eco. Turbo mode delivers the most power (24,000 Pa, or 150 air watts) but will drain the battery extremely fast (10 minutes).

Medium mode balances suction power (15,000 Pa or 55 air watts) and battery life, while Eco mode provides the weakest suction power (7,000 Pa, or 18 air watts) but delivers the most runtime.

In my review of the Wyze cordless vacuum, I noted that I was able to pick larger debris (like rice and dog food) effortlessly using the Turbo mode. I did, however, do most of my cleaning using the Medium mode because it provides me with enough suction power without sacrificing too much battery life.

I’m not a big fan of the Eco mode because the suction power is just too weak in my opinion. When I whip out my stick vacuum, I expect the machine to pick up anything that’s lying on my floor.

Overall, the Wyze cordless vacuum is an amazing budget-friendly cordless stick vacuum. At just under $200, it's very lightweight, compact, and has an allergen-trapping HEPA filter. It also does a very good job clearing debris on bare floors and performs incredibly well on low and high-pile carpets.

Light as a feather

One of the biggest reasons why I adore the Wyze cordless vacuum is the weight. I’ve already mentioned the suction power, but what’s even more impressive is that this machine weighs just 2.8 pounds.

Folks, 2.8 pounds is extremely lightweight. In fact, it’s so light that I consider this the best lightweight vacuum perfect for old people. Nothing comes close to this vacuum in terms of weight, and I love it.

The Wyze cordless vacuum also transforms from a stick vacuum into a handheld vacuum. Combined with its slim frame, you can easily maneuver the device to suck up debris from every nook and cranny.

Easy to clean and maintain

In addition to its slim and versatile frame, I enjoy the easy-to-empty dust compartment. Once you are done cleaning, all you have to do is to press the release button while holding the device over a trash bin.

The dust compartment will open and all the collected debris will fall down to the trash bin. To replace it, just snap the cover back into place. Cleaning the dust compartment is really that easy!

Emptying the dust cup is super easy!

That being said, it has been well-documented that the rubber gasket ring (on the dust compartment cover) easily falls out. It’s designed to provide an airtight seal so the device can deliver strong suction power.

If the rubber gasket is missing, you’ll be dealing with weak suction power, or worse, no suction at all. While you can buy a replacement rubber gasket ring, it's a good idea to make sure the rubber gasket doesn’t fall off.

3. Best Handheld Vacuum Under $200: Bissell Pet Hair Eraser

Without having to spend more than $200, the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser is the best affordable handheld vacuum. In fact, you don’t have to spend more than $100 for this amazing “pet hair eraser”.

Say goodbye to pet hair

I replaced the smaller, corded version of the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser with this (the upgraded, cordless version) and I’m so glad that I did. The new and improved version is an amazing handheld vacuum.

Previously, I used to have an issue with cat hair on a dark brown sofa. But then I adopted a rescue pup who is a big shedder and it can’t seem to stay off the sofa. My smaller vacuum couldn’t handle the shedding.

Look at all the pet hair.

No more shedding problem!

Enter the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser. It has been a godsend. I no longer get irritated with shedding. Thanks to this vacuum I can keep both “master shedders” in check. It sucks up hairballs like no other and pulls my dog’s hair out of the burlap-type couch upholstery with ease.

The name says it all. If you want to “erase” pet hair and say goodbye to shedding problems, buy the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser. It’s an amazing handheld vacuum that costs less than $200. In fact, it costs less than $100.

Excellent battery life

Since the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser is a handheld vacuum, it runs on battery.

Without the motorized brush head, the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser lasted for 19 minutes and 56 seconds before dying, which is better than most handheld vacuums I’ve tested in the past.

However, when using the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser with the brush tool, its runtime decreased to 16 minutes and 38 seconds. Still, this is an impressive battery life performance compared to other handheld vacuums.

Some would think that 16 minutes is a short battery life, but a handheld vacuum is designed for small messes and quick cleanups. For longer cleaning sessions, you would need a bigger vacuum cleaner.

I’ve always been a big fan of Eureka vacuums because of their affordable price. The Eureka Airspeed, in particular, is able to tackle most cleaning jobs but it comes at a price that doesn’t break the bank.

Amazing little powerhouse

When I first opened the Eureka Airspeed vacuum out of its box, I thought to myself that this “cheap thing” would be useless. I was wrong. One run with this vacuum and I realized that it’s a powerhouse.

The first thing I cleaned was my computer case. I took off the handle and I was able to fit the Eureka Airspeed under my desk easily. Lo and behold, it sucked up dog fur, pennies, and dimes that had fallen.

Look at all the pet hair!

It's all picked up.

Once I was finished, all I had to do to empty the dust compartment was hold it over a trash can, open the lid, and out came the contents. Seriously, emptying the unit was a breeze compared to my larger vacuum.

Compact size

The average vacuum cleaner usually weighs more than 10 pounds. This Eureka Airspeed vacuum, however, weights just 7.7 pounds. It’s not the lightest vacuum out there, but it’s certainly compact.

I gave this vacuum to a friend of mine (after I was done reviewing this machine) who has a limited space in a 2 bedroom apartment where the only carpet is in the bedrooms and an area rug in the living room.

Since he would not have anywhere to store a full-sized vacuum, this Eureka Airspeed is perfect for him. This machine fits beautifully in a coat closet filled with other things, thanks to its compact size.

If you have limited space in your house, the Eureka Airspeed is perfect. It combines the best of both worlds because it’s powerful enough for most cleaning jobs, yet compact enough for easy storage.

Best bang for your buck

Finding a vacuum cleaner under $200 is already a bargain. The Eureka Airspeed, however, takes affordability to a whole new level. At just under $70, it comes with everything you’d want in a vacuum cleaner.

Folks, the Eureka Airspeed is not a handheld vacuum. It’s a full-size upright vacuum cleaner capable of picking up pet hair from carpets and hardwood floors. Let that sink in for a minute.

The Eureka AirSpeed runs on a 6-amp motor that provides decent cleaning performance with a bristle brush inside the head. Not only is it able to lift debris, but also extract dirt from shag rugs, carpet, and hard floors.

Don’t let its slight frame fool you because it can still hold up to 2.7 liters of dirt. And it's pretty easy to clean up the dust cup. Basically, if you’re looking for the best bang for your buck, buy the Eureka Airspeed.

Final verdict

And there you have it, the 4 best vacuum cleaners under $200. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to spend a huge chunk of money just to enjoy a high-quality vacuum cleaner.
