LG Dryer Error Codes (Complete Database)

If you own an LG Dryer, you may have encountered a problem. The machine will then produce an error code. An error code on the display of the LG Dryer can usually be resolved by performing a few simple troubleshooting steps. Here is the complete list of the LG Dryer error codes and their solutions:

d75, d80, d90, and d95 Error Code

The d75, d80, d90, and d95 error codes indicate that the dryer’s exhaust duct is clogged 75%, 80%, 90%, and 95% respectively. The hot, humid, air from the dryer has to go somewhere, or else the moisture will stay in the drum and clothes. 2 or 4 bars on the flowsense indicates that the exhaust system is severely restricted.

NOTE: On gas dryers, D80 may indicate the lack of gas supplied to the unit.

1. Check for lint buildup

Check for lint buildup at the rear exhaust duct, the lint build up will cause a long time drying in the dryer. If you need the service of a professional technician, contact a local vent cleaning company to clean the vent.

2. Inspect for damaged exhaust

A crushed or damaged exhaust will also cause air blockage. If possible, check every section of your exhaust duct to ensure it is not crushed, kinked, or damaged.

3. Inspect for crushed duct

  • Avoid long runs or runs with multiple elbows and bends
  • Excess or crush transition duct
  • Too many elbows or exhaust too long can cause long time drying

4. Length of the duct work

When the ductwork is too long or has too many bends, blockages can occur, and it will be hard to trace. In this case, check the exterior part of the house when the machine is running to see if exhaust air is blowing outside. For proper inspection and repair for this situation, contact a local vent cleaning company to clean the vent.

nP Error Code

An nP error code on the LG Dryer’s display indicates that there is a problem with the electrical wiring in the home, and that no current is being detected at the heater. Here’s what you can do:

  1. Check the power cord connection - Make sure the power cord is securely plugged into a grounded outlet matching the LG Dryer’s rating plate of 240V.
  2. Reset the circuit breaker - From the home’s main, turn off the circuit breaker for at least 10 seconds to clear the power surge inside the breaker.
  3. Inspect the home outlet - If the nP error code is displaying, the home’s outlet may need to be checked by a licensed electrician in order to ensure that the correct voltage is being supplied to the LG Dryer.
  4. Request a repair - If the LG Dryer is still not heating at this stage, the unit requires a repair service. Simply go to LG’s Request a Repair page.

PS Error Code

A PS error code on the LG Dryer’s display indicates that there is improper voltage on the power cord, which could be caused by the white and red wire connections being reversed on the LG Dryer’s terminal block.

  1. Check the power cord connection - Make sure the power cord is securely plugged into a grounded outlet matching the dryer’s rating plate of 240V.
  2. Reset the circuit breaker - From the home’s main, turn off the circuit breaker for at least 10 seconds to clear the power surge inside the breaker.
  3. Request a repair - If the dryer is still not heating at this stage, the unit requires a repair service. Simply go to LG’s Request a Repair page.

DE Error Code

A DE error code means that the LG Dryer door is not completely closed. This might be the result of the door not completely closed or misaligned. Open the door and make sure the filter is pushed all the way in and that there are no articles of clothing stuck on the door.

If the unit is brand new, check whether there is any noticeable damage on the frame of the unit (for example: the door is bent) If so, please contact the dealer.

If the problem is not dent or damage, reset the unit by unplugging it from power, or trip the circuit breaker. Wait for 4 seconds then plug the unit back in. Close the door firmly, select any cycle, and press start. If the unit displays the DE error code again, the unit will need service.

E13 Error Code

An E13 error code on the LG Dryer’s display indicates that the drain hose is kinked, crushed, clogged, or that the water pump is frozen. The E13 error code will only display on Hybrid  Condensing Dryers.

If the E13 error code is showing on the LG Dryer’s display, make sure the drain hose is not kinked, twisted, or clogged with water at the end of the hose. If the drain hose is extended, the dryer will not drain well because of the increased resistance. It is recommended to only use the standard LG drain hose.

Press START/PAUSE button to start the dryer again after checking that the drain hose is not kinked, twisted, or clogged. If the E13 error code occurs again, the unit will require a repair service.

FO (Filter Out) Display

An FO error or a flashing INSERT FILTER on the LG Dryer’s display indicates that the lint filter should be checked to ensure that it is inserted properly. When the lint filter is not inserted properly, the sensor inside the dryer will display FO, and the dryer will stop working.

Remove the lint filter and reinsert it into the lint filter housing. If the error continues to appear on the display screen, the unit mau require a repair service. Simply go to LG’s Request a Repair page.

HS Error Code

HS error code on the LG Dryer’s display indicates that the dryer has detected an error with the HUMIDITY SENSOR. The HS error code will cause the LG Dryer to run for ½ hour, which may seem as though the dryer is not drying.

If the HS error code is displayed, clean the sensors on the inside of the dryer, located below the lint filter. Allow the sensors to fully dry before attempting another cycle. If the HS error code persists, the unit may require a repair service.

PF Error Code

The PF error code usually happens after a power outage. To fix it, perform a factory reset. Unplug the LG Dryer or trip the circuit breaker. While the dryer is without power, press and hold the START/PAUSE button for 5 seconds. Restore power and try to run a cycle.

If the PF error code persists, the unit may require a repair service.

tE1 Error Code

A tE1 error code on the LG Dryer’s display indicates a problem was detected with the dryer’s thermistor. To fix it, perform a factory reset. Unplug the LG Dryer or trip the circuit breaker. While the dryer is without power, press and hold the START/PAUSE button for 5 seconds. Restore power and try to run a cycle.

If the PF error code persists, the unit may require a repair service.

tE2 Error Code

A tE2 error code on the LG Dryer’s display indicates a problem was detected with the dryer’s thermistor. The extra humidity in the dryer’s vent during the SteamFresh, Steam Sanitary, or Steam Option cycles causes the duct to cool down faster, resulting in the dryer displaying the tE2 error.

If the tE2 error code is showing on the LG Dryer’s display during the SteamFresh, Steam Sanitary, or Steam Option, power the dryer on then select the SteamFresh cycle. Press the MORE TIME button until big is shown on the display. Press the START button.

If the tE2 error code occurs again after resetting the dryer, the unit may require a repair service.

tE3 Error Code

A tE3 error code on the LG Dryer’s display indicates a problem was detected with the dryer’s thermistor. To fix it, perform a factory reset. Unplug the LG Dryer or trip the circuit breaker. While the dryer is without power, press and hold the START/PAUSE button for 5 seconds. Restore power and try to run a cycle.

If the PF error code persists, the unit may require a repair service.

gAS Error Code

A gAS error code means that the LG Dryer door is not receiving gas. Make sure that the gas supply valve is turned on and make sure the gas line is not kinked. If gAS error code persists, the unit may require a repair service.

Check Filter

“Check Filter” is not an error. It was designed to serve as a reminder to clean the lint filter before each use to ensure optimal drying every time. The indicator turns off when you turn the cycle knob to select a drying program or when the START/PAUSE button is pressed.

Wrinkle Care

The “Wrinkle Care” display is not an error and does not indicate that there is a problem with the Lg dyer. Then activated, wrinkle care functions at the end of the drying cycle and will continue to tumble the dryer drum to prevent wrinkles.

The drum will rotate for 10 seconds and then off for 6 minutes. It will run up to 3 hours. If the door is opened during this time, the Wrinkle Care option will automatically turn off.

CL (Child Lock)

A CL code or CHILD LOCK reading on the LG Dryer’s display is not actually an error code, but rather an indication that the Child Lock feature is active.

When the Child Lock feature is active, the control panel is disabled and settings cannot be adjusted. Press and hold the key labeled CHILD LOCK for 3 seconds to disable the Child Lock feature (for most models).

Cooling/Drying Light

This is normal. The machine runs a dry portion and cooling portion of the cycle. The cooling portion of the cycle does not begin until the last 5 minutes of the cycle.

Add (Add Water)

The “Add Water” error reading on the LG Dryer’s display indicates that there is a water supply error. Before using a steam cycle, the steam feeder must be filled with water up to the MAX indicator lines.

Check the steam feeder to be sure that it is full of water and that the drawer is completely closed. Do not use distilled water in the LG Dryer’s steam feeder drawer.

If the Add Water reading appears on the LG Dryer’s display after a cycle has started, press PAUSE to temporarily stop the running cycle. Fill the steam feeder with tap water to the MAX fill line. Power the unit off and back on again, select the STEAM cycle, and press START/PAUSE button to finish the cycle.

Reset the Control Panel

If you need to reset the control panel, power the LG Dryer OFF and unplug it from the electrical outlet (you can also trip the circuit breaker if that’s easier). Press and hold the START/PAUSE button for 5 seconds while the unit is without power. Turn the breaker back on, and power on the unit.
