Swiffer Wetjet Mop Review & Mop Test
I bought the Swiffer Wetjet mop a few months ago and have been able to test it out. I have used it around the house to clean and mop my floors. After using it now, the first thing we want to answer are the most common questions: How large is the mop pad, how far does the sprayer spray, how much cleaning solution does the bottle hold, and does it require batteries?
Not only did I answer these questions above, but we also tested the mop out with three different commonly spilled items: ketchup, milk, and baby food. Continue reading this article to find out all these answers and more!

Mop Pad Area Dimensions
I have both the Swiffer Power mop and the Bona mop, and I can tell you that this one is the smallest of the three mop pads. The Swiffer Wetjet Mop pad measurements are 12 inches wide by 6 inches. Although not the biggest, this still gives you enough mopping surface area to clean common spills.
Mop Sprayer Distance
Now, for this test, the mop comes out victorious. The spray distance from the nozzle to the very furthest point is about 18 to 19 inches. This is an impressive distance, and it definitely shows that its mop does pack a punch.
Cleaning Solution Capacity
The Wetjet mop comes with a starter cleaning solution bottle that holds 17 fluid ounces. Once you’ve used the starter bottle, you can purchase a separate bottle that holds an impressive 42 fluid ounces. Remember, the larger the bottle, the fewer times you have to replace it.
Mop Power
The mop is powered by two AA batteries, which are located in the back of the mop. The battery should last you somewhere between 3 to 6 months, depending on your usage.
Mopping Food Item Test
We tested the mop against three commonly spilled items: ketchup, milk, and baby food. Below, I will explain how the mop performs with each.
Ketchup Test
The mop was able to pick up the ketchup. However, I can tell the mop pad was having a hard time keeping all the ketchup on the pad. Overall, I did pick up the ketchup, but I would recommend changing the mop pad shortly after this cleaning.
Milk Test
I spilled approximately 1/3 of a cup of milk on the floor. After spraying the cleaning solution and mopping up the milk, I could tell the mop pad was over-soaked with liquid. I mopped up all the milk off the floor, but once again, I will recommend changing the cleaning pad after this cleaning.
Baby Food
For this test, I spilled some baby food on the floor. I sprayed some cleaning solution and continued to mop up the baby food. I was pretty impressed with the results, as the mom was able to pick up the mess with no problems. Overall, I think this was a good example of how a mop should perform.
Overall Rating
Before I give an overall rating, I would like to go over a few pros and cons to discuss more about what I like about the mop and what I think needs improvement.
