Swiffer Power Mop Review

Swiffer Power Mop Review & Mop Test

I purchased this Swiffer Power Mop a few months back. Now that I’ve used it for a few months, I’d like to give my honest review of what I think of the mop, the pros and cons, and finally, how I rate this mop.

The first thing I want to do is answer the most common questions about the mop, which are: how large is the mop pad, how far does a sprayer spray, how much cleaning solution does the bottle hold, and does it require batteries?

I will answer all these questions in this article. We will also test the mop with three common items that I think are in most people’s households: ketchup, milk, and baby food. Continue reading the article to find out all these answers and to get my final rating on this mop.

Helpful tip: I bought my mop online, and it came in a complete package.

Mop Pad Area Dimensions

I was very impressed with the mop size, as this mop gives you a wider cleaning surface area. The measurements for the mop pad are 15 inches by 5 inches. When mopping spills off the floor, having this extra-wide pad helps clean up messes quicker with every pass.

Mop Sprayer Distance

For this test, I was not very impressed with the distance that the mop sprayed. I was only able to get the mop to spray, around 12 inches. Now, 12 inches is not bad; however, the other mops I tested sprayed much further, and I feel like I would like to see it spray further than one foot.

Cleaning Solution Capacity

When I purchased the mop, a cleaning solution bottle was included. This bottle holds 25 fluid ounces of liquid. In my personal opinion, this is the halfway point, and they could’ve increased the bottle size capacity. Remember, the larger the cleaning solution bottle, the less time it takes to change it.

Mop Power

The mop is powered by two AA batteries, which are located at the back of the mop. The battery should last you anywhere between 3 to 6 months, depending on your usage.

Mopping Food Items Test

We tested the mop against three commonly spilled items: ketchup, milk, and baby food. Below, I will explain how the mop performed with each test.

Ketchup Test

The mop was able to pick up the ketchup without any problems. I credit this because the mop pad is thicker and also has a wider mop surface. The mop passes this test easily.

Milk Test

I spilled approximately 1/3 of a cup of milk on the floor. After spraying some cleaning solution, the mop soaked up the liquid without any problems. Having a thick mop pad definitely helps you pick this up easily. The mop passes this test easily.

Baby Food Test

I went ahead and spilled baby food on the food. The mop was able to handle this without any issues. The mop pad cleans this mess right up. This is after picking up ketchup and milk. I did not have any issues picking up the baby food. Overall, it passed this test, too.

Overall Rating

Before giving the Swiffer Power Mop a final rating, I’d like to discuss a few pros and cons to help you better understand my decision. This will help you better understand my final decision on this mop.

Cons

  • Mop pads need replacing and are not reusable or washable
  • Cleaning Solution bottle is not refillable
  • The cleaning solution only holds 25 fluid ounces
  • Only Sprays 12 from the nozzle

Pros

  • The mop pad surface area is large, 15 in x 5 in
  • The mop pad is thicker and able to pick up all the food items with ease
  • It only needs 2 AA batteries to operate

Now that I have reviewed the pros and cons, this mop is definitely the better option over the Swiffer Wetjet mop. A few areas for improvement include a washable mop pad and a larger cleaning solution bottle. Overall, I give the Power Mop 4 stars out of 5. I also included a video to help you better understand my decision.
