Anyone who is familiar with steam cleaning must know the McCulloch brand. Two of its most popular steamers, the MC1275 and MC1375, have been compared because both are very similar.
So, what’s the difference between the McCulloch MC1275 and the MC1375?
Although both steamers are equipped with a 48-ounce water tank, the MC1375 boasts a maximum steam time of 90 minutes, whereas the MC1275 only has a maximum steam time of 45 minutes. The MC1375 also has variable steam control, which lets you adjust the steam pressure.
While the MC1375 has 20 accessories and the MC1275 has 18, there are some that are included in one but not the other. In this post, let’s dissect the two steamers and compare McCulloch MC1275 vs. MC1375.
Comparing the McCulloch MC1275 vs. MC1375
Before we compare the two steamers, a quick disclaimer. Don’t expect many differences between the MC1275 and MC1375. Since both machines are made by the same brand, there are plenty of similarities.
However, I will try my best to explain the differences that matter to help you choose which one is the most suitable for you. I don’t want to be like most reviewers who copy and paste product specs from Amazon.
Now that I’ve set your expectations, let’s compare both steamers.
Key Differences Between McCulloch MC1375 and MC1385
1. Squeegee tool or scraper tool?
The first, and arguably most important difference between the two McCulloch steam cleaners is the number of accessories. In my opinion, McCulloch steam cleaners are unique and worth it because they come with plenty of accessories for different uses. The more accessories, the more things you can clean.
You will get 18 accessories with the MC1275 and 20 accessories with the MC1375.
I am not going to waste your time and list every accessory right here. If you want the full list, be sure to visit McCulloch's website. You can simply compare the specs of all their models.
However, one accessory found in the MC1275 not found in the MC1375 is the squeegee tool. The squeegee makes it very easy to clean glass surfaces, such as mirrors, as well as windows and even glass coffee tables.
Alternatively, one accessory found in the MC1375 not found in the MC1275 is the scraper tool. The scraper tool is designed to scrape tough materials from ovens and stovetops like baked on food, grime, and grease.
In my opinion, the difference in the number of accessories is not significant, but if I were to choose between 18 accessory options or 20, I would choose the bigger number, wouldn’t you?
Just keep the squeegee tool and the scraper tool in mind. If you need a steamer to clean glasses and windows, go for the MC1275. If you need a steamer for scraping baked on grime, choose the MC1375.
2. MC1375 has longer steam time than MC1275
Both the McCulloch MC1275 and MC1375 have a water tank size of 48 ounces.
Interestingly, the MC1375 boasts a longer steam time of up to 90 minutes, while the MC1275 can only endure up to 45 minutes. This means the MC1375 can steam twice as long as the MC1275.
While the MC1375 takes 2 minutes longer to heat up (the MC1275 heats up in 8 minutes while the MC1375 heats up in 10 minutes), the longer steam time makes the slightly longer wait worthwhile.
More steam time means you can work longer before needing to pause for refilling the machine. So, if you have a big house and see yourself steam cleaning for more than an hour at a time, go for the MC1375.
3. MC1375 has variable steam control
The MC1375 comes with variable steam control while the MC1275 does not.
Variable steam control is a simple dial that allows you to add or reduce the amount of steam, delivering a precise amount of steam flow. In simpler terms, it allows you to control how much steam to use.
If you are new to steam cleaning and you will use the same steam level every time, this feature won’t matter to you. However, if you are cleaning different items around the house and you need to tweak the steam pressure multiple times, the variable steam control feature is godsend.
The MC1375 also has a pressure gauge but the MC1275 only has an indicator light. So instead of just an indicator light that comes on, you know when your pressure is lowering when using the MC1375.
In my opinion, the variable steam control makes it convenient for me to add or reduce the steam pressure. Most steam cleaners do not have this feature. So if you are going to invest in a steam cleaner, why not go for the one that offers more flexibility and control? That sounds logical, doesn’t it?
On a side note: While the MC1375 has a variable steam control, the dial is located on the unit. This means that you need to go back to the tank unit and bend over just to adjust the steam pressure. 4. MC1275 is for household use, MC1375 is for heavy duty tasks
Lastly, the difference between the two steamers is the maximum steam pressure. The MC1275 has a maximum steam pressure of 3 bar (43PSI) whereas the MC1375 has a maximum steam pressure of 4 bar (58PSI).
Great. You know how much steam pressure each machine produces, but what does this all mean? Put simply, the MC1275 is perfect for household use while the MC1375 is more suitable for heavier duty tasks.
The MC1275 is for you if all of your steam cleaning jobs are done indoors, like steam cleaning most flooring, appliances, fixtures, outdoor furniture, tile and grout lines, and kitchen countertops.
The MC1375 can tackle all of the above, plus it is able to handle outdoor furniture and grills, wheels, engines and interiors, boats, RVs and motorcycles, and lawn equipment and tools.
So think about it. What do you intend to use the McCulloch steamer for? Everyone has different needs. If you plan to use it indoors, both are fine. But if you need to clean outdoor stuff, the MC1375 is the better option.

If you ask me, the number of accessories is not a big deal. What matters to me is how convenient it is to use the machine. Without a doubt, the MC1375 is better in my view because it delivers twice the steaming time (90 minutes max. compared to 45 minutes) and it lets you control the steam pressure.
It’s easy to see that the McCulloch MC1375 is better than the MC1275. And if you are going to spend a considerable amount of cash either way, go for the superior choice, in this case, the McCulloch MC1375.
