Both Dupray and McCulloch are two of the most well-known steam cleaner brands in the market today. Two products from each brand, the Dupray Neat and the McCulloch MC1375, are often compared with one another.
So, what is the difference between the Dupray Neat and McCulloch MC1375?
While the McCulloch MC1375 only reaches 212°F, its boiler is made of copper, which has better temperature stability and consistency than the Dupray Neat boiler, which is made of aluminum. However, the Dupray Neat steam cleaner is able to reach 290°F.
Apart from the max temperature and boiler material, however, there are plenty of differences to consider between the two. In this post, let’s compare the Dupray Neat steam cleaner and the McCulloch MC1375.
Quick Comparison
Both have a 2-year warranty on the entire machine, however, the advantage of owning the Dupray Neat steam cleaner is that it has a lifetime warranty for its boiler.
Dupray Neat vs. McCulloch MC1375
I am going to compare the Dupray Neat steam cleaner with the McCulloch MC 1375 canister steam cleaner.
The McCulloch MC1375 has two circles on the unit. On the right, you will find the variable steam control which allows you to control how much steam to use.
On the left, you will find the pressure gauge that tells you how hot it is.
The Dupray Neat steam cleaner, on the other hand, does not have any steam control or pressure gauge. While it does look more modern and futuristic, the only way you can tell that the machine is running out of steam is that it will sound different and produce less pressure. By then, it’s time to refill the machine.
Important accessories
The Dupray Neat steam cleaner comes with 18 accessories, while McCulloch has 20.
They both have the same type and similar number of accessories, however, the McCulloch MC1375 steam cleaner does not have any bonnets to fit over the triangle tool and I wish that it did.
They both have a floor mop, mop pads, brushes, scrapers, and everything you need to clean effectively. Just expect a little difference in size and types between the two.
One of the most important differences, however, is that the McCulloch MC1375 steam cleaner comes with a scraping tool. It also has a tiny hole where you can apply steam while scraping surfaces. In my opinion, this single tool is very useful to scrape stubborn and sticky messes.
Unfortunately, the Dupray Neat steam cleaner does not have the scraping tool.
Mop head comparison
The Dupray Neat steam cleaner’s mop head is basically a rectangle. It comes with microfiber mop pads. On the other hand, the McCulloch MC1375 mop head, although it does not have any clamps, is much bigger than Dupray Neat’s mop head.
Based on the mop head size, the McCulloch MC1375 is going to cover a lot more area, and sure enough, after trying both steam cleaners, I’m happy to say that it did.
Additionally, one of the things I like about the McCulloch MC1375 over the Dupray Neat is that the mop head has the ability to move back and forth, and side to side.
The Dupray Neat’s mop head, on the other hand, does not swivel. In my opinion, the flexibility of the McCulloch MC1375 is much easier to work with.
Not only does the McCulloch MC1375 have a bigger mop head (which covers more ground), but its ability to move back and forth as well as side to side makes it easier to work with.
Portability comparison
One of the things I like about the McCulloch MC1375 is the wheels. Because both of the wheels are encased with rubber, they move very well.
On the other hand, the Dupray Neat steam cleaner does not move as well as I would have liked. Sure, it does have four wheels, but they are tiny and resemble that of an old office chair.
Both the Dupray Neat steam cleaner and McCulloch MC1375 steam cleaner have reliable handles, however, they are pretty different.
The McCulloch MC1375 steam cleaner’s handle is built into the top of the unit and feels very sturdy.
On the flip side, the Dupray Neat steam cleaner has a retractable handle which, true to its name, is very neat. However, the problem is that the handle sometimes gets stuck. It does not come out smoothly, especially after several months of owning the machine.
The McCulloch MC1375 steam cleaner comes with an accessory bag. It also has a cord that wraps around the top. The best part is, it has a cradle that holds the hose in place.
The Dupray Neat steam cleaner, however, does not come with an accessory bag.
Also, since the unit is shaped like a cube, it does not have anything to hold the hose in place. Only the power cord can be stored underneath.
I adore the sturdy handle and smooth wheels of the McCulloch MC1375. Although the Dupray Neat’s handle can be hidden, it feels clunky and often gets stuck. The McCulloch MC1375 steam cleaner also comes with an accessory bag, which is a huge plus.
Boiler comparison
What about the boiler?
The McCulloch MC1375 steam cleaner’s boiler is made of copper, while the Dupray Neat steam cleaner’s boiler is made of aluminum.
In general, copper is more expensive than aluminum, brass, and stainless steel. Copper also has better temperature stability and consistency, and is an outstanding boiler material that transfers heat fairly fast. (source)
The pro of having the Dupray Neat, however, is that the boiler has a lifetime warranty.
In short, the McCulloch MC1375 steam cleaner has better temperature stability and consistency than the Dupray Neat steam cleaner.
