Without proper laundry care, clothing can become dingy or even change color over time. If you’re not sorting different colored pieces of clothing, fabric dye can leach into the entire wash water and transfer to other garments, causing a “color runner bleed”. This is why your white clothes turn pink.

Treating color runs with chlorinated bleach is dangerous. Not to mention, it can cause irreplaceable garment damage by permanently altering colors and patterns. Instead, use the Carbona Color Run Remover.

Carbona Color Run Remover Instructions

The Carbona Color Run Remover has a powerful non-bleach formula that is gentle on fabrics to easily remove dye and streaks caused by color run accidents, even older ones that were set in the dryer.

Whether you’re dealing with a single garment or a full load accident, here are three ways on how to use Carbona Color Run Remover to remove dye and streaks from mixed-wash accidents:

1. Hand wash method (for 1 to 3 garments)

For a single garment, fill a bucket of water with 3 to 4 gallons of the hottest water permitted by the fabric’s care label. Then, dissolve one packet of Carbona Color Run Remover and stir thoroughly.

Soak the dye stained garment, making sure it is fully submerged. Stir occasionally to let the product work its magic, until the dye stain has been removed. Usually the entire process should take one or two minutes.

Remove the garments, then rinse with warm water. All you have to do now is to wash the garments with detergent as usual. You can also choose to repeat the entire process if you are not satisfied with the results.

2. Front load wash method

Fill the machine with the dye stained garments only. Pour 2 packets of Carbona Color Run Remover into the detergent drawer and flush into the machine with ½ gallon of water.

Set the machine to the highest temperature as directed by the garment fabric care labels. Don't use the economy, prewash or time-delay cycle. Do not add detergent and immediately run an entire cycle. You can also choose to repeat the entire process if you are not satisfied with the results.

3. Top load wash method

Select the highest water level (do not use water saver mode) and start the wash cycle using the hottest water permitted by the fabric care labels. Thoroughly dissolve 3 packets of Carbona Color Run Remover in the water.

Please do not add detergent. Add only the dye stained garments and immediately run an entire cycle. You can also choose to repeat the entire process if you are not satisfied with the results.

Things to keep in mind

For a full load, it is recommended to use 3 packets of Carbona Color Run Remover.  The product is designed to remove unwanted color dyes. Always test for colorfastness when using this product on colored fabrics.

To test for colorfastness, dissolve ½ teaspoon of Carbona Color Run Remover into one cup of warm water. Then, dampen a tiny spot of the garment (where no one can see) with the solution. Let it dry. If the color stays the same, you can use the Carbona Color Run Remover.

If the color changes, please don’t use the Carbona Color Run Remover. It will cause irreplaceable damage. There are different types of fabric and you can’t use this product on some fabrics.

Do not use the Carbona Color Run Remover on silk, denim, khaki, synthetic fabrics, leather, suede, vinyl or any garment that has bled onto itself. Once the product is opened, it should be used or discarded.

Does Carbona Color Run Remover Work?

The Carbona Color Run Remover works like a charm! It does not contain bleach, formaldehyde or phosphates, but removes unwanted dye stains effectively. When used as directed, the product is your best chance to remove unwanted dye stains from whites and colorfast fabrics.

The best part is, it works even when the dye stained garments have been set in the dryer. The heat from a dryer can make discoloration permanent, but the Carbona Color Run Remover works just as effectively.
