Tile floors are tricky to clean. Not only are they slippery, but the “slimy” surface makes it difficult for vacuum cleaners to move through. Even for a brand as expensive as Dyson, not every product is up for the job.

So, what is the best Dyson for tile floors?

The best Dyson for tile floors is the Dyson V11 Extra Cordless Vacuum Cleaner. It comes with the soft roller cleaner head that allows the machine to glide through tile floors while picking up dust and dirt along the way.

If you have plenty of tile floors to clean, you need the right Dyson for the task. In this post, I will show you the best Dyson for tile floors. Whether you use it for home or commercial use, your tile floors will be clean.

The Dyson tool you need for tile floors

If you already have a Dyson cordless stick vacuum (V6, V7, V8, V10, or V11), you don’t need to spend more money on a new vacuum cleaner. All you need to clean tile floors is a new tool, not a new vacuum.

Introducing the soft roller cleaner head (for tile floors and ceramic).

The soft roller cleaner head is a tool made with a soft, velvety rubber roller that is designed to glide through expensive hard floors, like wood, ceramic, linoleum, and tile. As you glide the tool through the surface, it sucks dust and dirt along the way. Maybe, all you need is the soft roller cleaner head for tile floors.

Below are the best Dyson vacuums for tile floors. I have included 3 Dyson vacuums that I have personally tested, all of which will have no trouble on hard floors, including ceramic, tile, and linoleum.

1. Best Overall: Dyson Cyclone V10

During my experience working as a pro cleaner and using my client’s Dyson V8, I have nothing but good things to say about it. That is why I’ve decided to buy the upgraded version, the Dyson Cyclone V10.

The Dyson Cyclone V10 comes included with important tools:

  • Combination tool (two tools in one - wide nozzle and brush)
  • Crevice tool (designed for edges and narrow gaps)
  • Mini motorhead tool (sucks dirt with more accuracy)
  • Mini soft dusting brush (for delicate surfaces and fabrics)
  • Soft roller cleaner head (for hard floors and tiles)
  • Wall mount (saves space for storage on the wall)

I bought this vacuum to clean tile and ceramic floors, and replace my old upright vacuum. I could not be happier with it. Compared to my old machine (which is pretty bulky and annoying to bring up and down the stairs), the Dyson V10 is much lighter and much more portable for a woman like me.

Another reviewer suggested that the only difference between the Dyson V10 Animal and  is the soft roller cleaner head (the canister size and other attachments are the same), so I got the Absolute.

The same thing goes for the Dyson V10 Motorhead. The Motorhead is the entry level. You only get a crevice tool and another small crevice attachment with a brush. On the other hand, the has newer motor design, 40% bigger dust bin, and most importantly, more tools and attachments for tile floors.

It’s not only great for a quick run around the high-traffic areas, but it works very well on tile ceramic floors thanks to the soft roller cleaner head. I love that it also has several settings, from a quick run on the lowest setting or highest setting (lower setting gets more suction, higher setting sucks up bigger debris).

I love that it’s light enough and quiet enough for my 5 year old to use. Even my 1 year old daughter isn’t afraid of it! My one tiny gripe is that you have to hold the trigger down to keep the motor on. Not a big problem since it doesn’t run that long, but after I do the whole floor my trigger finger does ache a bit.

Emptying the canister is a breeze. I don’t even have to get my hands dirty inside the canister. Plus, there’s a rubber seal that slides down the middle of the canister to help push more dust off the middle cylinder.

The first time I tried to empty the canister, it took a little extra strength to get it open all the way, and I was a bit worried I might break it. Since then I haven’t had trouble opening it, and it stays sealed while closed.

Overall, I would recommend the Dyson Cyclone V10 if you’re looking for the best Dyson for tile floors. It comes included with plenty of tools, including the soft roller cleaner head for cleaning tile floors.

I have tried so many vacuums over the years. Either they clogged up, had low suction, too much suction or the motor burned out. All I wanted is simplicity. Something simple for a home with tile and ceramic floors.

I came across the Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2. I was intrigued by the name. Could it mean that this particular vacuum works on many types of floors? My curiosity was enough to lead me to buy the Dyson vacuum.

In short, I love the Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2. I couldn’t believe a vacuum could actually be this good. It moves around tile, ceramic, and linoleum floors effortlessly during use because the suction is so strong. The beater brush is powerful and results in an almost self propelled action.

Much to my surprise, the canister filled with so much stuff I didn’t know was there. It works great on wood, ceramic, linoleum, short pile rugs and carpets, and most importantly, tile floors. Even my super dense two inch thick shag rug with some minor modification to one’s angle of approach. I love it so much.

Unfortunately, the only thing that I don’t like about the Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2 is that it’s corded. I would prefer this vacuum to be cordless. For a woman like me, I dread the extra effort of having to unplug the machine and move it to a new location, only to plug it in again.

However, the Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2 is light to maneuver and steers easily into difficult places. It instantly changes direction with a turn of the wrist. The self-adjusting cleaner head also adjusts itself depending on the surface. This is my second pick as the best Dyson for tile floors.

3. Budget pick: Dyson V8 Absolute

I came across the Dyson V8 Absolute during my time working as a professional cleaner. One of my clients has the Dyson V8 and she lets me use it every time I work on cleaning her large home.

Every time I work on the tile floors of my client’s house, I switch to the soft cleaner head which allows me to glide through tile floors while picking up dust and debris at the same time. The soft roller does not get in the way of the tile and grout, instead it allows me to navigate tile floors effortlessly.

For me, working with the Dyson V8 Absolute is a joy. I just hated using a vacuum cleaner with a long cord. The cord often gets in the way and you have to keep plugging and unplugging to reach every area of your home. Once you go cordless you won't want to go back to a regular vacuum cleaner.

The ease of pressing the trigger and walking around freely with your vacuum makes cleaning a breeze. The canister is easy to empty too. The only thing I don't like is the battery. It doesn't hold its charge for too long.

This is why the Dyson V8 Absolute is listed as the budget pick. The newer versions have more long lasting batteries. It is a pretty decent Dyson vacuum cleaner with good suction power, especially for tile floors, but the newer versions have better suction power and longer lasting batteries.

However, don’t listen to the negative comments on this Dyson V8 because it is good. Although I had the Dyson V8, both me and my client would recommend this to anyone looking to clean tile and ceramic floors.
